PGM and UNIC Enter Long-Term Partnership on CineEurope

Prometheus Global Media (PGM) and the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) have entered into a long-term partnership to run CineEurope, the key annual gathering of European cinema professionals and UNIC’s annual convention. Having worked side by side for the past five years, the two groups have formally agreed to partner and jointly manage the event.

“This was the natural progression in a very successful venture that has seen CineEurope grow into the largest cinema show in Europe” stated Robert Sunshine, Co-Managing Director of CineEurope.

“Working with UNIC has provided us with the opportunity to expand the show to include a real cross-section of exhibition and distribution from the European community. We now have the seal of approval from UNIC and together the convention can only grow as the key meeting place for industry professionals across the continent.”

Welcoming the announcement, Phil Clapp, President of UNIC said:

“CineEurope is an incredibly important event both for UNIC and for the wider European cinema sector. It provides an opportunity for professionals from across the industry to gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities we face, as well as to learn more about new technologies and, of course, the upcoming film slate. Importantly, as our annual convention, CineEurope also provides UNIC with a unique platform from which to explain its position on a range of key industry issues.”

The International Union of Cinemas is an international trade association representing cinema exhibitors and their national associations across 36 European territories. UNIC works from Brussels with policy makers and diverse stakeholders to better promote the social, cultural and economic value of cinemas in Europe and internationally.

“Our relationship with Bob and Andrew Sunshine and colleagues, which began back in 2010, has seen the event grow year on year, in the process undergoing a hugely successful rebranding and relocation to Barcelona.” said Clapp.

“Today’s announcement of a long-term partnership between UNIC and CineEurope around the show represents a welcome culmination of that process.”

Andrew Sunshine, Co-Managing Director of CineEurope expressed his excitement of the partnership with UNIC:

“Having the opportunity to partner with UNIC is very exciting for everyone at PGM. We look forward to a long and promising relationship with the association for many years to come. UNIC is an organization that represents the interests of cinema owners throughout Europe. CineEurope will continue to be the place for the whole industry to come together once a year, do business and view upcoming product and most importantly visit and network with friends, both old and new.”

CineEurope will take place from June 22-25, 2015 at the Centre Convencions Internacional Barcelona (CCIB) in Barcelona, Spain. It will feature screenings and product presentations of upcoming International Films, sponsored events, timely and informative seminars and the CineEurope Trade Show.

CineEurope is produced by Prometheus Global Media, owner of leading entertainment publications and events including Film Journal International, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Adweek, Dick Clark Productions, the CLIO Awards, ShowEast, and CineAsia.

CineEurope is the Official Convention of the Union Internationale des Cinémas/International Union of Cinemas (UNIC).
