ScreenX Solidifies Foothold in the Commercial Feature Film Market

Immersive 270-Degree Cinema Experience Has Screened Seven Feature Films in China, Korea, and the U.S.; Targets Installation of 270 Screens Around the World by 2017
ScreenX, the world's first multi-projection immersive cinematic platform, is returning to CinemaCon this April 11-14 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Created by CJ CGV – a global top-five cinema operator with 332 locations in seven countries which previously introduced 4DX around the world, including most recently in New York City – ScreenX is the next level in immersive cinema technology, which provides moviegoers with a 270-degree viewing experience by expanding the scene onto the side walls.

Since making its CinemaCon debut in 2015, ScreenX has quickly grown its business in Korea, China and the United States. Seven full-length feature films were successfully released since 2012, including two films in the U.S. – Korean hit “The Himalayas” and the Chinese action adventure blockbuster “Mojin: The Lost Legend.” In China, “Mojin: The Lost Legend” generated an impressive record of 82.7% average seat occupancy rate on opening weekend.

With remarkable performance from these films, ScreenX is currently in advanced discussions with major studios in Korea, China and Hollywood, and is aiming to release about four to five Chinese films, one of which is a China-Hollywood collaborative project, next. In South Korea, local blockbusters are scheduled to launch by the end of this year.

ScreenX has accelerated its worldwide expansion beyond South Korea. The company has installed 91 screens in total, including one screen at Major Cineplex in Thailand, and eight screens in China in partnership with the country’s top cinema operator, Wanda Cinemas. In the United States, two ScreenX screens officially opened to the public last year, one in Los Angeles and the other in Las Vegas. The latter is AMC Town Square 18, where the ScreenX demo sessions will be held for CinemaCon attendees.

ScreenX announced that its upcoming feature film lineup has been finalized – the company will first unveil this lineup exclusively to the press attending the demo session at AMC Town Square 18, 6587 Las Vegas Fwy, Las Vegas, NV 89119.

*ScreenX Demo Session for Press: April 11 (Mon), 3:30-4:30pm at the AMC Town Square 18

ScreenX targets to open more than 270 ScreenX screens around the world by the end of 2017. Executives from CJ CGV, celebrating the company’s 20th anniversary this year, are meeting with current and potential partners from Hollywood studios as well as exhibition companies at CinemaCon BOOTH 2003A.

ScreenX Web Site
About ScreenX: ScreenX is the world's first multi-projection system used within a theatre setting. It was created in 2012 by CJ CGV, part of South Korean conglomerate CJ Group, as one of the "next cinema formats" along with 4DX, the multisensory cinema technology with motion and environmental effects. ScreenX allows moviegoers to go beyond the frame of the movie screen by expanding the center image of feature films and pre-show advertising to create an immersive, panoramic, 270-degree format that projects onto three theatre walls. To date, ScreenX has been installed in 203 screens around the world, including 87 screens in South Korea; 66 screens in China; 17 in the United States; 9 in England; 4 in Turkey; 4 in Japan; 3 in Switzerland; 2 in France; 2 in Vietnam and 1 in Spain, Hungary, UAE, Kuwait, Thailand, Indonesia, Israel, Canada, and Poland. ScreenX was recognized as the “Innovator of the Year” at ShowEast 2018.  ScreenX Directory page
