Cinema goers at the ODEON in Guilford this weekend were the first and only audience in Europe to see “Hancock” screened in 4K resolution on Sony’s 4K SXRD Digital Projectors producing picture quality over four times the resolution of high definition televisions.
“Hancock”, the new action-comedy movie starring Will Smith, joins the growing list of feature-length motion pictures to be distributed in 4K. All of the “Hancock” 4K screenings at the Guildford ODEON will be shown using Sony’s SRX-R220 model digital cinema projectors. The projector’s 4K resolution delivers an incredible 8.8 million pixels to the screen, creating the ultimate viewing experience for cinema goers.
The 4K SXRD Digital Projection systems by Sony have been installed in two of the screens in the ODEON Guilford. Gerald Buckle, Digital Development Manager ODEON, said: “4K SXRD projection gives an unrivalled entertainment experience. After the success of our Spiderman 3 screening last year we are confident that showing Hancock with Sony’s 4K projector will draw in the same large audience numbers. The quality of the image has a far greater impact; it will mean that audiences really get the most out of this summer’s superhero movie.”
