XPAND X101 Series 3D Glasses Set the Stage at the Premiere of “X Games The 3D Movie” in Los Angeles
XPAND, a worldwide authority in 3D cinemas and technology platforms, displayed why the company’s X101 Series active glasses are the viewer’s choice in achieving the absolute 3D experience during their recent collaboration with ESPN and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, at the premiere of X Games The 3D Movie, the first sports-themed 3D film, recently held at the NOKIA Theatre at LA Live on July 30, 2009. Slated for a limited theatrical release this summer, the film attracted a large audience of more than 4,000 people while delivering non-stop action.
The X Games 3D movie, which was filmed using the most groundbreaking digital 3D techniques, was perfectly paired to the XPAND brand of technologies and, more significantly, heightened the company’s newly launched X101 Series 3D glasses, regarded by many industry professionals as one of the most immersive stereoscopic image delivery systems available. Combining the excitement of the action-packed games with the best possible 3D experience, the movie took sports fans to new levels of dramatic competition. Featuring some of the X Games most famous action athletes with Shaun White, Travis Pastrana, Danny Way, Ricky Carmichael and Bob Burnquist to name just a few, the film took an inside look at the personal side of what the athletes endure to achieve the ultimate in extreme sports while entertaining audiences globally. The red-carpet event drew celebrity fanfare with the likes of Pamela Anderson and Slash, one of the world’s most legendary rock guitarists.
“It was extremely exciting to have been chosen by ESPN and Disney for the Los Angeles premiere of X Games 3D the Movie,” says Maria Costeira, XPAND’S CEO. “This is a triumph for 3D sports entertainment and it seems that ‘X’ was the broader theme of the event—we couldn’t have asked for a better combination of brands. We continue to appreciate Disney’s support of the active technologies, while working together in a progressive 3D culture.”
During the entire week and throughout the weekend of the actual X Games events, held simultaneously at the Staples and the Home Depot Centers’ (July 30-August 2), XPAND’s X101 Series 3D glasses could be seen at the various interactive display areas where the movie trailer was being presented to all X Games attendees in 3D. It was estimated that more than 10,000 people got to view a sneak preview of the X Games 3D movie over the course of a few days, which audiences were giving rave reviews.
Topping just over 1000 installations over five continents, XPAND has become a major player in 3D and the X101 active glasses have been a dominant choice for exhibitors seeking the most optimal guest experience. Hosting many special features, the ecology-minded reusable glasses have a durable and contemporary design that moviegoers prefer.
