The Renowned Danish Film Production Company Zentropa Has Selected A DVS Clipster®

The DI workstation enables RAW workflows in real-time and DCI Mastering in high-speed
Once again, DVS has equipped Zentropa, the largest film production company in Denmark, with sophisticated technology. As a loyal DVS client, the company founded by director Lars von Trier, has opted for a DVS CLIPSTER®: Aside from RAW workflows in real-time, the DI workstation realizes DCI and HD Mastering as well as DPX screening. Zentropa completes the infrastructure of its own post production with the DVS equipment and establishes the basis for Digital Cinema.

Zentropa benefits from the DI workstation’s open interfaces and its perfect integration into the existing system architecture. Moreover, CLIPSTER® considerably accelerates the post production process: as and extensive and powerful DI solution, the DVS system complies with the most stringent requirements of RAW workflows in real-time and the generation of encoded data packages in high-speed.

Due to its unique hardware platform and the specially developed hardware accelerator, CLIPSTER® manages to decode and demosaic RAW files in full quality at 4K 12 bit RGB mode in real-time. RAW data (e.g. from RED® or Phantom cameras) can be directly displayed, edited in the timeline and played out in parallel in 4K. Furthermore, CLIPSTER® creates all necessary DCI steps from DSM (Digital Source Master) to DCP (Digital Cinema Package) in a single system, thus preventing time-consuming transfer processes through the use of many different components.

Lars Dela, Technical Director at Zentropa: "We are impressed with CLIPSTER’s multifunctionality and versatility. We carry out all essential steps to the finished DCP, check the DPX files, edit RAW material in real-time and apply CLIPSTER® for HD Mastering. On Lars von Trier’s latest project Melancholia RAW data from the Phantom camera is being processed on DVS’s DI workstation: it is incredibly fast, reliable and definitely more than a one trick pony."

Ernst-Joerg Oberhoessel, Sales Director Region Western Europe at DVS: "Zentropa is the largest film production corporation in Scandinavia and is renowned for its success, creativity and artistic quality. We have been partners for many years, now resulting in a CLIPSTER® installation. Our DI workstation paves the way for Digital Cinema Packages that theaters require for digital projection: Zentropa can now fulfil this demand for all its films worldwide."
