XDC Selected by Eurimages For its Digitisation Programme of up to 144 Screens

XDC, the n°1 digital cinema service company in Europe, has been selected to be the exclusive provider for the implementation of Eurimages theatre support programme, following a tender procedure by the Council of Europe.

At its 119th Meeting in June 2010, the Eurimages Board of Management decided to launch a support programme for the purchase and installation of digital equipment within the network of 40 theatres for a total of 144 screens supported by Eurimages, in co-operation with Europa Cinemas, in Turkey, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" and Albania.

Under this programme, a lump-sum grant of ?20 000 per screen will be awarded by Eurimages to exhibitors who operate theatres assisted by the Eurimages theatre support programme. This support can be used to cover the purchase and installation of digital projectors, servers, 3D systems and other related options. Exhibitors receiving support must seek any additional funding from their national or local authorities or through investments from their own equity or private sources to complete the overall financing.

As the exclusive provider for the implementation of this programme, XDC will supply the digital projection equipment. XDC will also take care of the installations, the support and the maintenance.

Fabrice Testa, Vice-President Sales & Business Development at XDC said: "We are honoured to have been selected by Eurimages for this project. XDC is a true pan-European company already working in about 20 countries, and we have the required organization to support such a programme in the concerned territories. Besides our success with VPF deals, this commitment demonstrates our capacity to offer alternative proposals dedicated to art house and/or small cinemas."

Serge Plasch, XDC CEO concluded: "XDC is very happy to have the opportunity, via this programme, to extend its activities in southeast Europe. Together with FTT, our group is focused in spreading its screen network all over Europe. We are targeting to service over 5,000 screens in the next 2 years."

The implementation will start in January 2011. For further information, eligible exhibitors should contact: eurimages.digitisation@coe.int.
