Announced on 4th March 2011, the deal signed between XDC and Barco became effective since April. XDC CineStore know-how is now Barco property. XDC activities will focus on digital cinema services.
This new strategy is already visible with several new investments and developments inside XDC/FTT.
The Alternative Content department proposing exclusive contents to European and Middle-East exhibitors has been reinforced with 3 new associates. The Network Operations Centre (NOC) has almost doubled its capacity (15 people) in order to better serve both current and future installed screens across Europe. New services are proposed by the Digital Media Services department in collaboration with new partners. Moreover, XDC is developing a new "Training Academy" in order to propose customised digital cinema courses.
Serge Plasch, XDC CEO stated: "We are glad to have achieved this agreement with Barco, a trusted partner since many years. Henceforward our technology and R&D team will focus on network, content delivery services and integrated cinema software solutions. Our strategy is to become the leader in digital cinema services dedicated to exhibitors and distributors. Therefore XDC Group will continue his pan-European expansion. Our aim is to diversify even more our current product and service offer."
The entire XDC CineStore team (approximately 20 people), the keepers of the CineStore knowhow (Server Solo G3 and TMS Plaza) became Barco employees. They will continue their activity from the new Barco Liège location.
XDC will continue to offer CineStore products to their customers. All services provided historically by XDC will be continued by Barco who will take over the existing obligations, support and warranty.
