Lang Lang's broadcast into European and Asian cinemas was given a further boost yesterday with a total of 179 cinemas now booked to screen this unique broadcast event on Sunday, October 23, 2011.
All major chains in the UK are now participating and a good number in most of Western and Southern Europe, including Ireland, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Romania and Denmark. The concert takes place at Verizon Hall in Philadelphia, with the Philadelphia Orchestra and conducted by Maestro Charles Dutoit, in what promises to be the cinematic event of the autumn.
With the help of their good friends at VUE cinemas, a joint campaign with the Sunday Times was also announced this week in a fantastic 2 for 1 ticket offer at participating VUE cinemas in the UK. Tickets are available via the Sunday Times reader offer. Readers simply take in the voucher from the paper and also one from the Times + website in order to redeem their 2-for-1. See inside the paper for full instructions and terms and conditions.
Chris Timmins, Film Marketing and Promotions Manager at Vue Entertainment told XDC: "We are delighted to collaborate with XDC Entertainment in a release of one of classical music's most appealing performers and our campaign with the Sunday Times is an excellent way to ensure audiences everywhere get a chance to see Lang Lang in a VUE cinema this weekend."
Lang Lang himself also added to the buzz by posting a video on YouTube discussing the unique one-off event as part of his world tour and general homage to Franz Liszt, who would have been celebrating his200th birthday this weekend. Lang Lang told his viewers: "I'm really looking forward to the Liszt Big Night, the Liszt 200th birthday concert!"
Fabrice Testa, Vice President, Content and Network Services XDC said: "The appeal of Lang Lang is more evident than ever; 179 cinemas in Europe and Asia are now engaged in this unique event and we're thrilled with the enthusiasm we've seen from all parties willing to make it happen. Lang Lang is a very special performer indeed."
The as-live broadcast will reach 179cinemas in Europe. Due to the time difference some cinemas will receive this 'as live'. Cinemas that do not have live capability will receive the content via DCP, can take advantage of a full package of satellite dish, receiver and video/audio cabling via XDC Entertainment thus being supported both technically and commercially.
Lang Lang will be appearing live and as live in cinemas in Europe on October 23.
