Goldenduck Group Diversifies Services Across Association of Southeast Asian Nations

For more than 20 years, the name of Goldenduck has been recognized as the leading cinema system integrator in Asia. Now Goldenduck has expanded into the Goldenduck Group (GDG) ratcheting up services throughout the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Headquartered in Bangkok with company offices in Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines and Singapore, GDG continues to provide traditional cinema and digital sight and sound services to movie theaters around the region.

2012 is proving to be a busy year, especially in Malaysia where GDG through Goldenduck International (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (GDIM) is in the process of providing and installing equipment – both digital and traditional 35mm. – in more than 70 cinema halls.

GDG continues to provide services to exhibitors in Brunei and Myanmar and is also active in Cambodia where it recently completed a digital cinema installation.

Presently 'Virtual Print Fee' (VPF) is a hot topic in the industry and GDG is leading negotiations in both Thailand and the Philippines.  Having provided cinema services in the Philippines for over 10 years, now, through their expanded Goldenduck Digital Management, Philippines (GDDMP), VPF has been negotiated for over 100 screens with more in the pipeline.

While in Thailand, GDG negotiated Thailand's first VPF, establishing a business model and completing negotiations with almost all of the major Hollywood studios and other independents – Agreement goes into force for Major Cinema Group on over 200 screens in Thailand in June 2012.

"For many years, people thought Goldenduck is Sittiporn and Sittiporn is Goldenduck. What they did not realize is during this time Goldenduck was not just Sittiporn, it was a whole team of people whose professionalism helped the Group move into related technical areas,” said Sittiporn Srisanguansakul, President of GDG.

"As the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) sees full integration in 2015, public sector infrastructure projects will abound as will opportunities in the professional audio visual business (ProAV) and the broadcast sector," Sittiporn commented.

In fact, GDG has already jump started its ProAV business installing a 4D theater system at Bangkok's Dream World, a sound system for the 1,750 seat Siam Niramit Theater, a novel cultural and entertainment attraction in Phuket and an advanced technology audio visual system in a multipurpose auditorium at Rangsit University in Bangkok.

As for broadcasting, GDG has again leapfrogged into the forefront of the industry in ASEAN having installed the first multi channel sound system for the live broadcast of Thailand's hit TV singing reality show, "Academy Fantasia 8", all the while preparing for digital TV deployment in the region.

GDG has been digitally mastering indigenous and international films since 2008, having trained a  cadre of technicians which work across ASEAN.
