XPAND 3D Offers World’s Most Extensive Range of 3D Cinema Solutions at CinemaCon 2012

XPAND 3D is the only company to provide all possible 3D cinema solutions, including active and passive systems—all High Frame Rate compatible
Underscoring XPAND 3D’s commitment to providing the most comprehensive range of 3D solutions in the industry and reinforcing its position as the market leader in 3D cinema, XPAND 3D is announcing at CinemaCon 2012 that it is the only 3D technology provider to offer all possible 3D solutions for cinemas. These solutions include XPAND’s flagship active systems, as well as the new XPAND Polarizer and Color Spacer passive systems—all of which are High Frame Rate compatible.

“While our active 3D systems still offer the highest-quality cinema experience available, we recognize that each 3D cinema technology has its own unique set of advantages, and as the world’s leading 3D solutions provider, our goal is to offer a full variety of products that cover the entire scale of application and budget,” said Maria Costeira, CEO of XPAND 3D. “We are now the only company in the world to offer every 3D solution, and the performance of our products are second to none in each category!”

The new XPAND Infinity glasses are high-end active 3D glasses, which provide the brightest, most vivid and realistic 3D images available. XPAND Infinity glasses are also optimized to work with laser projectors, making it the optimal future-proof 3D system. The glasses are available in adult and children sizes.

All new XPAND cinema systems and glasses fully support HFR (High Frame Rate) double and single flash at 96fps, 120fps, 144fps, 192fps, 240fps and even variable fps. The Infinity 3D glasses provide up to 38% transparency and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. The glasses’ lightweight ergonomic designs ensure long-wearing comfort, and their wide 3D viewing angle provides an optimal 3D image across the entire cinema.

XPAND offers a wide range of high-end IR and RF systems that cover spaces from 10 to more than 5,000 seats.
Designed for theaters with a maximum capacity of 150 seats, the XPAND ONE active 3D system gives owners of intimate cinema exhibition spaces, and fully digitized multiplexes the opportunity to offer its customers a world-class 3D experience on many digital screens with one 3D system. The XPAND ONE can easily be moved from one theater to another in a fully digitized multiplex, turning all the secondary halls into 3D theaters as movie programming requires. XPAND ONE provides the brightest 3D images on low-power digital cinema projectors and fully supports HFR.

Designed for VIP theaters, private screening rooms and post-production facilities, the new pocket-sized XPAND VIP kit fully supports HFR double and single flash at 96fps, 120fps, 144fps, 192fps and 240fps, and is optimized to work with laser projectors.

In addition to its flagship active cinema systems, XPAND 3D also offers its new passive systems:
The XPAND Polarizer 3D system, a cost-effective 3D cinema solution using high-quality disposable circularly polarized 3D glasses and Active projector polarizer. The system works with all digital cinema projectors and requires the usage of a high-gain silver screen. The XPAND Polarizer system is recommended only for cinemas that are used exclusively for 3D movies. Hybrid cinemas that are used for both 2D and 3D movies are not recommended to use silver screens, due to the viewing zones and hot spot problems.

XPAND 3D Color Spacer: a passive, color wavelength-based 3D cinema solution. XPAND Color Spacer uses reusable passive Color Spacer glasses. The system is recommended only for custom installations with special needs.

As the international market leader, XPAND 3D systems are installed in cinemas worldwide, with 70 percent of the 3D cinema market share in Asia and more than 50 percent in mainland Europe. XPAND 3D glasses and systems are the default choice for VIP theaters, studio screening rooms, celebrities’ home cinemas, government presentations and high-quality 3D presentations. XPAND 3D is the official partner of the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival, and is used for the biggest 3D Premieres globally.
