CineSa add Unique Digital’s Basekey service

ODEON & UCI Cinema Group Spain have selected Unique Digital’s KDM delivery service, Basekey™, that will automatically distribute all their security keys direct to their screen servers.

Basekey provides cinemas, distributors and content media houses with a secure and automated system to manage and deliver keys to any digital cinema site equipped with a Rosettabridge™ theatre management system (TMS) or MovieTransit™ client. Packages of keys are uploaded by distribution partners and managed via a secure web service portal and each TMS automatically only pulls down the keys required for the DCI compliant playback servers on its site by continuously polling for changes and updates.

CINESA have been operating RosettaBridge, Unique Digital’s market leading TMS, in every one of their 41 cinemas since their full conversion to digital in 2012 and have been trialling Basekey as an integrated feature.

“CINESA have been making full use of Unique’s RosettaBridge TMS for over a year now and we were keen to optimize our booth operations further,” commented José Batlle, CEO of CINESA and COO for Continental Europe, ODEON & UCI cinema group, adding “ our trial of Basekey proved that it was possible to remove all the headaches associated with managing and ingesting keys. The system has now delivered hundreds of keys for several major releases and the benefit has been immediate.”

”A major feature of the new system is the secure web portal that allows us to manage the process from our head offices,” said John Donnelly, Operations Director for ODEON & UCI cinema group Continental Europe, adding ”the service not only allows us to monitor every key that has been ingested with a delivery receipt but also to maintain and track our own estate TDL (Trusted Device List) for all 520 screens.”

Rod Wheeler, Sales and Marketing Director Unique Digital commented “Basekey has been adopted by all the distributors and content providers and we are adding new exhibitor customers to the service every month. This is a service that benefits both the small independent cinemas as well as the larger estates.”
