The EDCF is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation that aims to act as a "Forum" to discuss key issues surrounding Digital Cinema in Europe. The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. promotes interactive dialogue and information exchange between cinema-related entities with the goal of resolving issues affecting the overall cinema presentation. Founded in 1978 by Eastman Kodak VP Ken Mason, membership is composed of its four charter trade organizations - International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) - along with over 40 member companies, made up of trade organizations, motion picture studios, exhibition companies, manufacturers, technical consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
 




For more than a century, the people of SMPTE (pronounced “simp-tee”) have sorted out the details of many significant advances in media and entertainment technology, from the introduction of “talkies” and color television to HD and UHD (4K, 8K) TV. Since its founding in 1916, SMPTE has received an Oscar® and multiple Emmy® Awards for its work in advancing moving-imagery engineering across the industry.

Imm Sound Will Install its Immersive 3D Technology in the Cinema Theaters of Cinesa/UCI in Europe

The 3D surround sound will be available on movie screens in Italy, Germany, and Spain
Company Imm Sound, the leader in 3D immersive sound, will install its technology in the European cinemas of the cinema operator UCI /Cinesa, which belongs to the group ODEON/UCI/CINESA.

The 3D surround sound of Imm Sound, considered as the best system available on the market, provides a fully immersive experience for viewers going to the iSens theaters of UCI/Cinesa. In Europe, Cinesa theaters are located in Italy, Germany, Ireland, United Kingdom, Portugal, Austria and Spain. In Spain, Cinesa operates over 520 movie screens, with over 116,000 seats.

As highlighted by Imm Sound’s  president, Vicente López, the technological choice of Cinesa "will allow the 3D surround sound of Imm Sound, the most spectacular sound available on the market today, to be enjoyed together with a large movie screen, and to give perfect immersion in the show. "  It is audio that is "totally adapted to the digital age, allowing for maximum sound quality of the projections and adaptable to the characteristics of any theater."

The iSens theatres equipped with large-format movie screens and the Imm Sound 3D sound system are an advanced and innovative solution. Viewers gain a unique immersive experience not only for movies, but also for operas, concerts and sporting events. Of the many available configurations, these theaters have opted for 24 channels, which immerse the viewer in a totally new experience.

Currently, several theaters in this international group are already operating with the Imm Sound audio system, such as the cinemas Cinesa Principe Pio in Madrid and Ciudad de Marineda in La Coruña. Installations in other European  locations are under study.
