Paris—Jan 24, 2006
Official launch of XDC France.
XDC, Europe’s largest organization in the deployment of digital cinema screens,
has announced the launch of its subsidiary, XDC France in order to focus on the
specific requirements of the French market.
“We are well aware that the migration to digital cinema is a delicate,
step-by-step process which must be performed by preserving today’s existing
balances …” says Alain Remond, the new General Manager of XDC France. “For this
reason, we intend to act as an actual partner by offering technical and
financial solutions tailored to the needs of the exhibitors and distributors”.
XDC France is naturally focusing on cinema theatres, but will also extend its
activities by offering equipment and services to post production labs and HD
screening rooms. Along with assuming the business proposal of XDC International
in the French market by offering a full rental package for exhibitors going to
digital cinema, the new company will develop a specific partnership offer for
the festivals which intend to include digital screenings as part of their
programme.
XDC’s goal is to partner with all the parties contributing to the development of
digital cinema technologies. As a first partnership, XDC France and CST agree to
install a digital cinema system inside the large theatre room of Espace Cardin
in Paris. XDC is also improving its partnership with IDIFF.
“With extensive experience in the cinema industry and outstanding knowledge of
digital screening, Alain Remond is the ideal candidate to lead XDC France,” says
Laurent Minguet, CEO of XDC International, “We are convinced that XDC France
will accelerate the global development of XDC”.
XDC France has also appointed Philippe Coissac as Area Sales Manager. The
company expects to add a technical engineer in near future. “XDC International
will assume all back-office responsibilities of our subsidiary,.” states Bernard
Collard, General Manager of XDC International “The French team will be
outsourced from all administrative tasks in order to remain in the field, close
to our clients. This will insure the high level of service required by the
challenges of digital cinema”.
XDC France is targeting 40 new installations by the end 2006 and 300 screens by
2010. Globally, XDC International has targeted 300 new installations by end
2006, and with the addition of XDC France, 5000 equipped screens are forecast by
2016.
XDC France will act as a technological and logistical interface for digital
content, managing distribution between the producers and the distributors as
well as the exhibitors. Their involvement in the complete DCinema process will
insure benefits, in terms of cost, quality and security, to all involved. “XDC
France will be an essential element of the digital content workflow,
successfully performed by XDC International on many film releases; However, XDC
France will focus on preserving the diversity of the films and the
particularities of French cinema exhibition”, concludes Remond.
The new premises of XDC France are located at the south-west of Paris in Gif sur
Yvette.
