DG2L and UFO Moviez Reach D-Cinema Milestone

30,000 Digital Movies Shown on the DG2L Cinema Platform; DG2L to Showcase Pioneering DG2L Cinema System at ShoWest, Booth 2035
DG2L Technologies today announced that its newest customer, United Film Organizers Moviez (UFO Moviez), has reached a significant milestone—surpassing 30,000 digital movies shown using the DG2L Cinema System platform.

DG2L has delivered more than 500 of its Cinema Systems to UFO Moviez, and approximately 200 of them are already installed in theaters throughout India.

Mumbai-based UFO Moviez, a subsidiary of Valuable Media Pvt. Ltd, is the world’s largest digital distributor of movies. The company awarded a multi-million dollar contract to DG2L in April 2005 to deploy its pioneering DG2L Cinema System to 2000 theaters throughout India. DG2L together with UFO Moviez will showcase its DG2L Cinema System at ShoWest, Booth 2035. ShoWest 2006 runs March 13-16 in Las Vegas, NV.

UFO Moviez needed a carrier-class digital cinema solution that provided maximum security and the best performance. The company selected DG2L because of its reputation as a reliable partner and its extensive expertise in digital cinema technology.

“We selected DG2L because of its best-in-class digital cinema technology and best deployment practices,” said Sanjay Gaikwad, CEO of UFO. “We also needed a partner who could meet our aggressive rollout schedule. Another key concern was security and relief from piracy. DG2L has delivered on all counts.”

The DG2L Cinema System is an end-to-end solution comprising film capture, encoding, encryption, management, and playback at the theater. DG2L Cinema System is enabling UFO Moviez to reap the technology and business gains of a digital cinema distribution network—significant savings in distribution costs, reduced piracy, and the ability to reach more movie goers and maximize revenue.

“Helping our customers achieve their digital cinema goals on time is very important to us,” said Ankur Sheth, CEO of DG2L Technologies. “UFO’s goal from the onset was to deploy systems as quickly as possible to meet runaway demand. With more than 500 systems delivered and approximately 200 installed and operating, DG2L surpassed this goal by several months, helping UFO realize a significant return on their investment.”

“By offering the best technology and the best deployment resources, DG2L has enabled us to become the world’s largest digital distributor of film and the first company to download films through V-SAT,” added Gaikwad.
