Bardan Cinema Tracks Popularity of New “Star Wars: the Force Awakens” in Cinemas Throughout Latin America and the Caribbean

More than 71 percent of all available screens showed the film over the weekend
Bardan Cinema, through its 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC), which monitors and maintains nearly 1,813 cinema screens throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and the Southeast U.S., discovered firsthand just how popular “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has been. According to Bardan, 1,289 exhibitors showed the film at least once with 20,912 playbacks from Thursday’s opening through Sunday evening.

“This is incredible,” said Bardan Cinema NOC Manager Aaron Minkus. “Major franchises like Star Wars are very good for the cinema business. In addition to ticket revenue, our customers have the opportunity to maximize sales of food and beverage, promotional items and special offers.  We have also heard that many patrons are seeing the film more than once,” he added.

Bardan Cinema is a full-service cinema distributor and digital integrator offering a turnkey portfolio of products and services to build out, enhance and maintain cinemas.

“Bardan is always here around the clock for our exhibitors, to support them and ensure that everything is technically on-point for their customers,” said Vilma Benitez, Bardan’s CEO.

The company’s Network Operations Center (NOC) offers a comprehensive 24/7 monitoring and remote support platform, assuring exhibitors optimum equipment health and minimum downtime. Bardan has programs available for VPF and non-VPF customers. The NOC’s corrective maintenance service seeks to restore normal operations of equipment after a malfunction, including support via remote monitoring and fault location via NOC. This service offers repair in the shortest possible time, replacement of damaged parts and components (if required) and recovery of optimal operations.

Bardan recently exhibited at EXPOCINE/15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil to meet with cinema and large-venue owners regarding the implementation of the latest three-dimensional Dolby Atmos solutions and to present Barco’s Lobby Experience and X20 media platform packages.

Barco/Bardan offers the X20 media platform to owners and operators of cinemas, malls, hotels, live entertainment and sports venues.  There are additional applications for the distance learning and telemedicine markets, as well.  X20 enables venue owners to create, manage and deliver real-time information, visuals and video from any source to any screen, anywhere via its powerful network platform.
