Palace Cinemas Signs 3-Year Agreement with Christie and Hoyts Cinema Technology Group for Cinema Projectors, Procurement and Support Services

Under this exclusive agreement, Palace Cinemas will purchase close to 70 Christie cinema projectors which will be installed and serviced by HOYTS CTG over next 3 years

Christie®, HOYTS Cinema Technology Group (CTG) and Palace Cinemas have entered into a new three-year exclusive supply deal for projectors and cinema services for Palace Cinemas’ sites across Australia.

Under this agreement, Palace Cinemas will purchase close to 70 digital cinema projectors in a move to further expand its cinema operations in Australia. The projectors will be fitted and serviced by HOYTS CTG – who will be responsible for procurement of equipment (projection, audio solutions and screens), installation, service and support across all Palace Cinemas’ sites.

Palace Cinemas plans to more than double its number of screens over the next 24 months in a rapid expansion of its cinema footprint in Australia. The agreement will also include the supply of Christie lamps which will be used exclusively across the circuit during the term of the agreement.

“Christie offers a wide range of cutting-edge cinema projectors for auditoriums of different sizes and configurations, and we are delighted to provide Palace Cinemas with our high-value projectors under this exclusive supply agreement,” said Michael Bosworth, General Manager, Christie Australia. “We’re heartened that Palace Cinemas has chosen our cutting-edge digital cinema projectors to be installed in its new theaters throughout Australia under its cinema expansion plan. Together with HOYTS CTG, our trusted partner with decades of industry experience and proficiency, we will provide high-quality, innovative shared experiences for Palace Cinemas’ customers.”

Adam Wrightson, General Manager, HOYTS CTG, said, “We are very pleased to be continuing our strong relationship with Palace Cinemas. It is rewarding to have Palace Cinemas place their trust in Christie and HOYTS CTG to deliver cost-effective fit-for-purpose solutions and provide the best service and support for their projection and sound requirements. The signing of this agreement is further recognition of my team of dedicated technical professionals and the outstanding work and customer first approach we deliver to all of our independent cinema clients. Palace Cinemas’ growth plans are very exciting and we look forward delivering the technology behind their cinema experiences.”

Benjamin Zeccola, Chief Executive, Palace Cinemas, commented, “State-of-the-art projection and sound are both essential to a great cinema experience, so we are delighted to be working with Christie and HOYTS CTG to provide this for our customers.”

The rollout will include the new Christie CP2208, which delivers fully DCI-compliant images at 9,000 lumens within the DCI color space, can be ordered with a variety of lamp sizes and lenses, and allows feature film content to be displayed using the optional Christie integrated media block (IMB-S2) with improved performance or another popular Series-2 integrated media block (IMB) system using the open IMB slot. This helps to reduce exhibitors’ overall system cost and increase overall system reliability. The Christie CP2208 also offers HFR upgrade capabilities and support for advertising and alternative content.
