XDC Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival for digital cinema.
XDC to enhance its partnership with the Cannes Film Festival will support all the digital cinema activities from encoding the movies up to the screenings in the auditoriums of the Palais.
“The Cannes Film Festival has been the first major worldwide cinema event to go digital and we are very proud to be able to continue to assist the Festival in their digital efforts. All producers have now the opportunity to screen their movie digitally with the best technology available today on the market” says Alain Remond, General Manager of XDC France.
XDC will cooperate with the French CST in order to operate state of the art equipment for all the digital movies selected in the official programme of the Festival. “In 2005, XDC processed more than 60 digital movies. We are very enthusiastic to offer our technical expertise for those movies presented during the competition as well as in the parallel sections” says Bernard Collard, General Manager of XDC International.
“The Festival has opted for experience, reliability and know how with XDC” adds Alain Remond, who concludes “XDC also gives the Festival the assurance of a maximum of flexibility and efficiency in the routing and the quality control of the digital content. Indeed, XDC has a recognized experience and know-how in digital workflow operations.”
As Official Partner, XDC is providing all the necessary equipment and will assure the technical support for all the digital screenings inside the auditoriums Lumière, Debussy, Bazin and Bunuël. The projectors Barco DLP CinemaTM which will be installed into these theatres are compliant with the requirements of the DCI and are today all in 2K resolution. The XDC servers are perfectly well suited to the MXF Interop specifications presently used for digital film distribution. Everything has been implemented in order to be compliant with the norms which are progressively applied for worldwide digital cinema roll out.
