Qube Cinema, Inc. Adds DCI-JPEG2000 Capability to Multi-Format Digital Cinema Platform
Qube Cinema, Inc. today announced support for DCI-specified JPEG2000. The multi-format Qube XP digital cinema server now addresses both present and future exhibition requirements, including such formats as MPEG-2, VC1, H.264, and JPEG2000. "Qube Cinema is a very versatile platform," said Rajesh Ramachandran, VP of Technology for Qube Cinema, Inc. "We are committed to providing complete multi-format solutions for the digital cinema marketplace. The availability of JPEG2000 on this platform exemplifies our commitment."
Qube Cinema offers a complete end-to-end solution for the mastering, encoding, encryption, and delivery of digital content. At the core of this solution are the Qube XP E- and D-cinema servers. Qube XP is highly versatile and designed to be format independent. It uses the MXF interop format for high bit-rate MPEG-2 picture and can play out JPEG2000 content at up to 250 megabits per second. Qube also comes equipped with powerful back-end tools for control, reporting, and media management. Its flexibility and allowance for leveraging the price curves of computer industry hardware gives it distinct advantages over conventional hardware dependent solutions.
Over 300 Qube systems have been shipped world-wide. Qube servers have played out dozens of digital releases including Steven Soderbergh's "Bubble," and "Mission Impossible III." Qube XP-D JPEG2000 servers will be on display at Cinema Expo (Amsterdam, June 26-29, 2006) Booth 344. Field deployments will begin shortly thereafter.
