Evan Saxon, Co-President of D&E Entertainment said, “We’re very pleased to have been selected to present the World Wide Theatrical Premiere of My Morning Jacket’s ‘Okonokos’. The Digital Cinema presentation will create a viewing experience for his fans unlike any other.” In addition, the team effort of D&E, RCA Records and A Fein Martini, the band’s management, aligned radio, press, retail, online and our theatres into a streamlined marketing campaign.
‘D&E is extremely excited to be involved with My Morning Jackets first concert DVD and proud to be able to give it a national theatrical release” said Doug Kluthe, Co-President of D&E Entertainment.
Brad Oldham, Sr. Director of Marketing at RCA Records stated, “Working with D&E Entertainment has been a natural fit in bringing the magic of My Morning Jacket’s Okonokos film to life in theatres. They have been great in helping us lock in soup to nuts coverage from radio, retail, press, and online. All of this has made for a very cohesive and highly visible marketing campaign for this release.”
Okonokos: Live Concert Film, directed by Sam Erickson, was birthed in the backwoods of My Morning Jacket’s imagination. Inspired by a fairytale-like performance in Tokyo, the band decided to adorn their mysterious set with qualities akin to an old growth forest, capturing the essence of a timeless, nameless, place. The theme of straddling the line between the surreal and the actual is introduced at the film’s prologue when a cast of characters draped in Victorian-era costume, along with one alpaca, are introduced. And so emerges a truly authentic live compendium. The live film captures the band’s heavenly set, preserving their modern classics while simultaneously allowing the viewer to enter their bewitching world.
Come out on mischief night and see Okonokos: Live Concert Film
My Morning Jacket’s ‘Okonokos’ DVD will be released on October 31, 2006.
