MasterImage Secures Deal with German Cineplex Group
MasterImage USA announced today an agreement to supply upwards of thirty MasterImage systems to the German Cineplex Group. With both companies still riding the current 3D cinema wave, these installations come in anticipation of the upcoming Fall 2009 film releases in Germany.
"This is just the beginning of expansion within Europe," said Peter Koplik, COO of MasterImage. "We are gratified that with Cineplex, we have partners to push ahead the success of digital 3D in Germany." MasterImage recently carried out installations in the Empire Cinemas UK, Czech Republic and Hungary for Palace Cinemas. The Cineplex deal is the first large-scale rollout for MasterImage in Germany.
"3D continues to be one important aspect when it comes cinema," said Kim Koch, Managing Director of Cineplex. "3D has not peaked yet, and in thanks to the huge success of Ice Age III Dawn of the Dinosaurs the 3D train has gained further momentum. With the large slate of 3D films set to be released later in the year, digital 3D technology continues to be buzzed about on a global scale In the upcoming weeks the initial MasterImage deployments will be at thirteen Cineplex locations in Germany, including Elmshorn, Leipzig, Limburg, Mannheim and Friedrichshafen.
Upcoming 3D releases in Germany include Up and Avatar in September and December 2009, respectively.
Since opening its U.S. office in October 2008, MasterImage has created a presence that spans across twenty three countries. As demand for high quality 3D presentation equipment grows, so has demand for MasterImage technology. With the industry expecting more than forty-five 3D releases in the next three years, this global expansion is expected to continue around the world.
