RealD Inc. (NYSE: RLD), a leading provider of 3D cinema technology, announced today that the company will open its first office in Russia later this month.
Located inMoscow, the new office will complement the company’s Western Europe office in the United Kingdom and increase RealD’s presence across Russia’s emerging cinema landscape. RealD’s Russia office will focus on sales, customer service, exhibitor relations and operations for the company’s 3D Cinema Division.

The announcement was made during Russia’s KinoExpo 2012, the world’s third largest international exhibition of cinema theatre equipment, at which RealD is providing the 3D technology for studio product presentations of THE LIFE OF PI for Twentieth Century Fox and THE HOBBIT and THE GREAT GATSBY for Warner Bros.
The Russian 3D market continues to be a growth area for 3D with the number of 3D enabled screens increasing by more than 200% over the 24 month period from June 2010 through June 2012, according to IHS Screen Digest. Total cinema box office in Russia increased to more than $1.1 billion in 2011, a record for the Russian market.
