The Inaugural Launch of Dolby Atmos at Golden Screen Cinemas

The leading and first multiplex operator in Malaysia to bring Dolby Atmos' lifelike storytelling to moviegoers
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) announced today that Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), the leading multiplex operator in Malaysia, is the first to install the Dolby Atmos sound platform in Malaysia. The White Storm, directed by one of Hong Kong's most renowned film directors, Benny Chan, and starring prominent Hong Kong actors Louis Koo and Ching Wan Lau will be the first Dolby® Atmos™ film to be showcased at GSC 1 Utama Hall 3 today.

Dolby Atmos unleashes the potential of sound in storytelling by giving filmmakers the creative freedom to easily place or move sounds anywhere in the movie theatre to create a lifelike, virtual reality of sound and the most engaging cinema experience ever.
"We are honored to be collaborating with Malaysia's leading exhibitor, Golden Screen Cinemas, on this inaugural launch to bring the impressive Dolby Atmos audio experience to moviegoers in Malaysia," said Mr. Leong Yan Yoong, Regional Director, South East Asia, Dolby Laboratories. "Golden Screen Cinema audiences will feel as if they are in the passenger seat during the high-impact chase scenes while experiencing The White Storm in Dolby Atmos."

"We look forward to offering our audiences the best cinematic audio and visual experiences. This is in line with GSC's ongoing efforts to create new value propositions for discerning moviegoers. We are delighted to be the first exhibitor in Malaysia to introduce the latest groundbreaking audio technology with Dolby Atmos here in GSC 1 Utama Hall 3," said Mr. Heng Beng Fatt, Deputy General Manager, GSC.

Dolby Atmos has quickly become the preferred choice for next-generation cinema sound among major studios, award-winning filmmakers, and exhibitors around the world.

The forthcoming movies to be screened in Dolby Atmos at GSC this month include The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Dec. 12, Warner Bros.) and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (Dec. 26, Twentieth Century Fox).

Slated for 2014 movie releases in Dolby Atmos at GSC are I, Frankenstein (Jan. 23, Lionsgate); 300: Rise of an Empire (Mar. 6, Warner Bros.); Mr. Peabody and Sherman (Mar. 20, DreamWorks Animation); Rio 2 (Apr. 10, Twentieth Century Fox); X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 22, Twentieth Century Fox); and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Aug. 7, Twentieth Century Fox). About Dolby Atmos
Dolby Laboratories is equipping the cinema world with its new Dolby Atmos technology, the only object-based cinema sound platform available today. Dolby Atmos unleashes the potential of sound in storytelling by providing sound experts the creative freedom to easily place or move specific sounds anywhere in the movie theatre, not just where there happen to be speakers. The result is what moviegoers have described as the most engaging and lifelike cinema sound experience ever.

Introduced in April 2012, Dolby Atmos has been embraced by all the major Hollywood studios, six Academy Award® winning directors, and 11 Academy Award winning sound mixers, among others. More than 400 Dolby Atmos screens have been installed or committed to in 33 countries with more than 100 exhibitors. More than 85 films from 10 different countries-representing a broad range of genres from action thrillers and animated features to comedy and horror-have been or are scheduled to be released with Dolby Atmos sound since the first film debuted in June 2012.

Dolby Atmos has received technical achievement awards from both the Hollywood Post Alliance and the Cinema Audio Society. As the inventors of the only object-based audio format used in the cinema today, Dolby is working closely with the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers in driving adoption of standards for object-based audio.
