Worldwide Expansion Continues for REAL D Cinema with European Installations

Select Theatres to Present Disney’s “Chicken Little” in 3-D
REAL D, the leader in the delivery of premium 3-D experiences, continues its global expansion with the installation of REAL D Cinema systems in British and German theatres for the 3-D presentation of Disney’s “Chicken Little.” Circuits inking deals with REAL D as part of this arrangement include British theatre operators Odeon and Vue and German theatre operators Cinema Theatre and Cinecitta Multiplexkino. This brings the number of REAL D Cinema installations to 102 screens with locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, England and Germany.

The domestic success of Disney’s “Chicken Little” in 3-D, which enjoyed overwhelming box-office success as 3-D per screen averages outpaced 2-D nearly threefold, has helped drive the rapid adoption of REAL D Cinema by the global exhibition community. Other upcoming releases in REAL D Cinema format including Columbia Pictures’ “Monster House” and Disney’s “Meet the Robinsons.”

“With the addition of UK and Germany, more than 100 theatres in seven countries now have REAL D Cinemas, a clear indication that the global future of cinema is digital 3-D,” said Michael V. Lewis, Chairman, REAL D. “Top-notch 3-D content from REAL D’s movie studio partners, along with the promise of live concerts and sporting events delivered directly to theatres in REAL D, gives operators the differentiation they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive theatrical environment combating erosion from in-home theatres and closing distribution windows.”

UK theatres offering REAL D Cinema include:

Vue West End in Leicester Square; London, England (REAL D Cinema presents “Chicken Little” starting Jan. 27)
Odeon Printworks at Printworks Centre; Manchester, England (REAL D Cinema presents “Chicken Little” starting Feb. 3)
Odeon Wimbledon at The Crescent; Wimbledon, England (REAL D Cinema presents “Chicken Little” starting Feb. 3)
Odeon Bath, Kingsmead Leisure Complex; Bath, England (REAL D Cinema presents “Chicken Little” starting Feb. 3)

German theatres offering REAL D Cinema include:

Cinema Theatre, Kinematograph Film; Munich, Germany (REAL D Cinema presents “Chicken Little” starting Jan. 27)
Cinecitta Multiplexkino, Gewerbemuseumsplatz 3; Nuremberg, Germany (REAL D Cinema presents “Chicken Little” starting Jan. 27)

REAL D Cinema is a simple, affordable way for exhibitors, studios and filmmakers to deliver a premium 3-D experience to moviegoers. REAL D Cinema systems draw from the company’s decades-long history developing mission-critical technologies for organizations like BMW, Boeing, Pfizer, NASA and the U.S. Military. The REAL D Cinema platform is rapidly emerging as the global standard for the delivery of digital 3-D entertainment to theatres. REAL D intends to equip more than 1,000 theatre screens globally by 2007 to accommodate the future release of 3-D content, including animated and live action motion pictures, live 3-D concerts, live 3-D sporting events and other 3-D entertainment.
