Southern Theatres and Silverspot Cinemas See Promise in Cielo Cinema Software

Cielo smart alerting points to smoldering issues before they become an operational inferno
Cinema Equipment and Supplies (CE+S) closed enrollment in the beta testing phase for Cielo, their patent-pending mobile software application, while current beta partners such as Silverspot Cinemas, Southern Theatres and others continue to provide the team with invaluable feedback as development readies for Q1 product launch. This announcement came on the heels of an unprecedented amount of exhibitor interest.

Cielo is a software application focused on relieving operational headaches by delivering real-time alerts on servers, projectors, lamp hour usage and more. The Cielo user receives this information on any internet connected device like their smartphone or tablet from absolutely anywhere. This portability gives the Cielo user the freedom to be on the floor ensuring their customers are receiving the best movie-going experience, rather than tied to their office and desktop.

Into The Wild With Cielo
The close of enrollment in the beta testing phase does not mean beta testing is complete. Phase One testing partners are deep into Cielo usage with Phases 2 and 3 close behind.

Jack Wagner, Director of Facilities, Southern Theatres, LLC, is a Cielo Beta Partner and his participation has already provided the Cielo development team with insight to make Cielo alerting smarter. Jack is an industry veteran and has seen and implemented a variety of solutions for his theaters. “What got me interested in Cielo is the focus on the hardware side and the alerting.  I’m a fireman, “Jack continues, “my team and I spend a lot of our day putting out fires. Cielo’s real-time alerting points out the fires while they’re smoldering - before they become a full blown blaze.”

“When you develop software initially the requirements are based on strategic market research,” explains Peter Malloy, VP of Product at CE+S, “but the real test is when our target market actually uses it in real world scenarios and they tell us what works, what they need. Southern Theatres and Silverspot Cinemas are perfect examples of vocal beta partners who are helping to make Cielo a valuable product for all of our customers.

Nerd Alert: Cielo Helps Teams Problem Solve More Efficiently
Travis Batson, Head of IT and Projection at Silverspot Cinemas is the kind of dedicated employee a GM dreams about. “On his days off, he comes in to watch movies, “ laughed Patricia Baker, General Manager at Silverspot Cinemas, as she shared an anecdote with the Cielo team at their ShowEast booth. “Travis is really nerding out about Cielo.”

Before Cielo, Travis would clock out, but support of his team didn’t end there. “When I was off the clock and away from the theater, it was really hard for managers to describe to me what was off with the projectors,” explained Travis. “The Cielo alerts combined with the detailed email notifications has not only enabled me to proactively reach out to my managers, but the notifications have also made me a more efficient problem solver. It has made the managers happy.”

Cielo’s mission is to provide cinema managers and owners with a sense of ease so when they are off-site they can still manage their cinemas from any internet connected device.  For Travis, it’s a little different: “I’ve been told that I shouldn’t be doing any work on my days off,” he laughs, “so, sometimes, I’ll just look at Cielo to get my fix.”

Coming Soon To a Theater Near You
Cielo beta partners represent 5,577 screens internationally. Cielo is slated for a full product release in Q1.
