Poland’s largest cinema operator,
Helios, have become the latest cinema chain to embrace a fully immersive large-format experience, opening a
new multiplex in Łódź with 4K visuals along with Christie’s
revolutionary Vive Audio with Dolby Atmos.
“Internationally, exhibitors like
Helios are recognising that cinema has evolved and digital audio championed in
the seventies needs to advance again to match the new levels of visual
excellence and immersion we can offer today,” commented Adil Zerouali Christie
Director of Cinema for Europe. “It’s fitting that the new Helios
complex is in , a city famous as being the Polish centre of
cinematography, because the audiences here will get a world class experience,”
The new flagship
multiplex in Sukcesja Retail Park has
9 screens with 2000 seats and engages visitors the minute they walk in the
lobby with air-touch screens where they can watch the latest trailers or see
old cinemas of Lodz, have a coffee in cosy seating areas. Helios
are also extending Vive Audio to Wroclaw and other cinemas. “Our
new Helios Cinema in Sukcesja Retail
Park is the most modern cinema on the market,”
confirms Tomasz Jagiello, CEO of the Helios chain.
Helios specified Christie CP4230 projectors in four main auditoria,
including the premiere Baltyk screen.
The smaller auditoria feature a variety of Christie Solaria Series DLP
Cinema projectors for 2D and 3D entertainment, which provide a fully immersive,
affordable cinema experience from smaller to larger screens. And every
auditorium is also powered by
Christie Vive Audio™ systems and Dolby Atmos.
“Thanks to cinema technology leaders Christie and Dolby, our
customers will enjoy the very best 4K cinema experience (four times more pixels
than standard), the brightest projected images and near perfect sound
reproduction, at the correct volume, wherever they sit." continued
Jagiello. "For anyone who loves cinema, it's an unmissable
experience".
Christie’s Vive Audio was designed specifically for cinema with
a combination of ribbon driver technology for near-perfect sound reproduction
and the single enclosure line array speaker for uniform sound at the right
volume in all seats. Vive Audio’s precision also allows for high frequency
sounds - usually unheard - and clear speech.
“Helios have
invested in very high specifications, with 5 dedicated screen channels
(rather than the usual 3 and 16 overhead speakers) and a special parabolic line
array unique to Christie Vive Audio,” said Zerouali. “It is a great
combination used in conjunction with Dolby Atmos.”
The grand
opening of the new Helios complex in Łódź on September 25
th is
perfectly timed to show the launch of ‘King of Life” which is the
first Polish film made for Dolby Atmos sound. The director and actors from
the film will be at the first screening along with some VIP guests and members
of the public.
Helios will use the nine screens to offer something for everyone
with a huge repertoire of films. Apart from Box Office blockbusters there
will be a programme of special showings, such as Women’s Cinema,
Night Movie Marathons and Cinema for Connoisseurs as well as special
events for the Helios for kids project. Helios has 35 cinemas across
Poland and puts customer satisfaction high on the agenda with the brand
being awarded the title of Superbrands Created in Poland 2013/2014 in
the 'Free time' category.
The new cinema and the planned series of upgrades to follow
around the country reflects Helios’s position and view of the
market. “Regular investment in new technologies is extremely important to our
company; our core principle is to always introduce the newest world technology
to bring our spectators the sound and image quality crucial for shows of the
highest level,” explains Jagiello. “We are the only cinema in Poland who
can offer the Vive Audio system. We also have an audio description system which
enables disabled people to participate in a thrilling cinema show experience.”
