Synonymous with quality and technology, UCI Cinemas (United Cinemas International Ltda.) has been in Brazil for 20 years, and today is present in 12 Brazilian cities (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Recife, Fortaleza, Curitiba, São Luís, Campo Grande, Manaus, Ribeirão Preto, Juiz de Fora and Belém). This includes the largest cinema complex in the country: The UCI New York City Center, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, with 18 rooms, including IMAX, XPlus and two DE LUX, and the most attendance in Brazil since its opening. Today, the complexes of the network feature IMAX, XPLUS and DE LUX, as well as armchairs, SuperSeats and SuperD, and will be debuting 4DX in 2017.
Always in search of the most innovative and best technologies, in 2001 the UCI launched the first digital rooms in Brazil. At the end of 2010, through an agreement with Sony, films with 4K technology began to exclusively screen in the country. And in July 2011, it brought the first IMAX rooms to Rio de Janeiro at the UCI NYCC.
Since 2005 UCI has been part of National Amusements Inc. NAI is a world leader in the motion picture exhibition industry operating more than 935 movie screens in the U.S., U.K. and Latin America.
