Horizon Cinema Plans to Open 13-Screen Dolby Atmos Multiplex in Russia

Horizon also plans to install Dolby Integrated Media Server IMS3000, Dolby Multichannel Amplifier and SLS 3-Axis Speakers in Each Screen
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) and Horizon Cinema today announced that Horizon plans to open a brand new Dolby Atmos multiplex in Russia. The 13-screen multiplex, set to open by the end of 2017, will be the biggest Dolby Atmos multiplex in Russia, based in Rostov-on-Don.
 
Each screen will be equipped with the Dolby Integrated Media Server, IMS3000, the Dolby Multichannel Amplifier and SLS 3-Axis Speakers. The combination is designed to give audiences the most spectacular, fully immersive cinema experience available to date and offer a complete, integrated solution from 5.1 to Dolby Atmos, regardless of the size of an auditorium. Horizon has selected Cinemeccanica as its chosen technical partner and integrator to support with the installation of this significant project.
 
The announcement follows Dolby’s recent milestone of surpassing 100 Dolby Atmos screens in Russia and CIS. Dolby Atmos has quickly become the preferred choice for next generation sound in the cinema and has been embraced by major studios, directors, and exhibitors around the world. Currently, more than 2,800 Dolby Atmos screens have been installed or committed to in more than 75 countries. Over 700 titles have been announced with support from all major Hollywood studios.

An innovative imaging server and audio processor in one, the new Dolby Integrated Media Server IMS3000 delivers reliability and enables you to show movies with superior sound. The Dolby IMS3000 increases exhibitors purchasing power compared to many other solutions. The solution also offers flexibility with sound as exhibitors can start with Dolby Audio 5.1 or 7.1 sound now, and unlock the power of Dolby Atmos later. The Dolby IMS3000’s unified UI and simplified design make setup and operation more convenient and cost-effective, helping you deliver a cinema experience that audiences will love.
 
Dolby Multichannel Amplifier
This advanced high-density design can replace up to 16 stereo amplifiers, using less space and producing less heat to lower overall costs. With less equipment to install, power, and maintain, exhibitors get a simpler and more efficient installation. The Dolby Multichannel Amplifier is available in two configurations, 24 channels or 32 channels.
 
SLS 3-Axis Speaker
The SLS 3-Axis Speaker MA390C system has been developed to reduce the time and expense involved with installing overhead speakers needed for Dolby Atmos cinema applications. Featuring a 300 W, 12” coaxial full-range speaker and passive crossover, the MA390C is housed in a spherical-shaped molded enclosure that enables quick installation and easy three-axis rotation for fulfilling Dolby Atmos aiming configurations.
