Since its founding in 1916, SMPTE has received an Oscar® and multiple Emmy® Awards for its work in advancing moving-imagery engineering across the industry. 



The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. promotes interactive dialogue and information exchange between cinema-related entities with the goal of resolving issues affecting the overall cinema presentation. Founded in 1978 by Eastman Kodak VP Ken Mason, membership is composed of its four charter trade organizations - International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) - along with over 40 member companies, made up of trade organizations, motion picture studios, exhibition companies, manufacturers, technical consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
 




The International Cinema Technology Association is a global network of professionals in the motion picture industry. Members of the ICTA are those companies that manufacture, service and create the equipment that goes into movie theatres. Our members are on the cutting edge of new technologies and have been the driving force in digital, 3D, immersive sound systems, high frame rates and lasers. The ICTA promotes technological advancements in the motion picture industry through educational seminars and programs. The Union Internationale des Cinémas/International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) represents the interests of cinema trade associations and cinema operators covering 37 countries in Europe and neighboring regions.​ ​





The EDCF is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation that aims to act as a "Forum" to discuss key issues surrounding Digital Cinema in Europe. The purpose of EDCF is to provide a basis of common understanding across all European territories of the business and technical matters of digital cinema.

CineEurope 2022, has been scheduled for June 20-23, 2022 in Barcelona.  CineEurope promises to bring you another year with the very best in exclusive studio screenings and product presentations, cinematic technologies and innovations and educational seminars to keep your business on top of industry trends.



CineAsia 2022 has been scheduled for Dec 5-8, 2022 in Bangkok.  Check links for more information.  The CineAsia trade show is where cinema exhibition and distribution professional come to do business and network. National CineMedia (NCM) Names Rick Butler Chief Digital Officer

Former Fandango Executive to Lead NCM’s Digital Products and Data Initiatives

National CineMedia (NCM), America’s Movie Network, has named Rick Butler to the role of Chief Digital Officer.  In his new role, Butler will lead the company’s digital products and data initiatives to deliver both innovative consumer experiences and new ways for brands to connect with movie audiences.

Prior to this, Butler had been working with the NCM Digital team as a consultant as President of Playa Vista Consulting, serving as the visionary behind NCM’s new Noovie.com movie search and discovery destination.  

Butler has extensive experience in the digital entertainment space and is perhaps best known as the executive behind Fandango, building that $500 million e-commerce revenue channel both as Chief Operating Officer, and later as Executive Vice President (NBCU) & General Manager, Fandango following the company’s acquisition by Comcast.

Butler will be based in Los Angeles and will report to NCM CEO Andy England, who noted that, “Rick is an expert in B2B and B2C products and platforms and has a terrific track record of building award winning web and mobile applications. He’s the right man for the job of taking our Noovie digital ecosystem and data initiatives to the next level, creating exciting new content, commerce and gaming products like Noovie ARcade, and Fantasy Movie League designed to reach movie audiences. NCM’s digital future looks bright indeed.”

Butler also previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Outbox Enterprises, an AEG/Cirque du Soleil joint venture that provides web and mobile box office solutions as well as back office systems for some of the largest concert and sporting venues in the world. His past experience also includes roles as Senior Vice President Operations with FinancialPrinter.com, the first fully web-based national financial document services company; as Vice President, Operations with Bowne & Co., Inc., the world’s largest financial printing firm; and several roles with R.R. Donnelley & Sons, a global provider of integrated communications drawing on a range of digital and conventional technologies.
