QuVIS Brings 4K Mastering and Playback Technology to IBC 2006

Company to Display 4K DCI Compatible Digital Cinema System
QuVIS continues its role as the leading technology provider in the digital cinema and imaging industries at IBC 2006. The company will be showcasing its’ 4K DCI compatible JPEG2000 QuVIS Digital Cinema System including direct 4K playback, real-time 2K extraction from a 4K master, and the ability to author DCI compatible DCPs at both 2K and 4K. The systems will be on display at IBC booth 230 at the RAI Convention Center, September 8-12, in Amsterdam.

“We’re proud to be showing the first DCI-compatible 4K cinema server available, the 4K QuVIS Digital Cinema System, at IBC this year. Our resolution independent approach combined with the flexibility of our Digital Cinema System platform has allowed us to create a true 4K system – avoiding the issues of four synchronized servers. In addition, we’ve applied this same leading edge technology to the QuVIS Ovation 4K, targeting the fixed display market and non-theatrical applications. These are the best and most economical commercial grade 2K and 4K servers available today,” said Jim Graham, QuVIS’ VP of Sales and Marketing

The QuVIS 4K Cinema System, along with Sony's SXRD projector, have established 4K digital cinema as a technological reality, offering exhibitors the core infrastructure necessary for displaying digital motion pictures in the highest resolution and quality available. With a user interface common to both 2K and 4K offerings, and with the capability to transparently play 4K content appropriately to either 2K or 4K devices, the QuVIS Cinema System provides exhibitors a flexible, common commercial grade platform to address the needs of varying theatrical needs. Since 1999, the QuVIS architecture has played an integral role in the digital cinema industry. QuVIS digital cinema servers were the first to directly play out both 4K and 2K content, provide transparent real-time playback of a 2K image from a 4K master, as well as the first to play and master 3D content.

QuVIS’ Digital Cinema System's architecture also supports digital cinema mastering with the QuVIS Acuity and QuVIS QuStudio Digital Cinema Mastering system. Offering a simple and scaleable DCI compatible mastering platform, in addition to 2K and 4K DCP creation, the QuVIS Cinema Mastering System also offers exhibitors a complete solution for advertising and alternative content, supporting more than 50 varieties of SD and HD content.

Designed for applications requiring pristine image quality, but not the security and restrictions of digital cinema, the QuVIS Ovation™ is the ultimate digital imaging server for fixed display including 4K, 3D and multi-screen applications, high resolution image analysis, scientific and engineering applications, trade shows, museums, theme parks and entertainment venues. The QuVIS Ovation supports more than 50 formats, is easy to use and reliable.
