CJ 4DPLEX Opened its First Romanian Auditorium
CJ 4DPLEX and Cinema City opened its first 4DX movie theatre in Mega Mall, Romania this past Tuesday. Cinema City is the largest multiplex operator in Central and Eastern Europe, operating 99 multiplexes across borders. Through its solid and robust partnership with Cinema City, 4DX has taken an important first step in its successful launch in the Romanian market.
With its strong performance over the years throughout the European countries – England, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic – 4DX will lead the global cinema industry by providing a whole new level of movie-going experience in the region – raising the standard of viewing from “watching” to “experiencing.”
The first Romanian 4DX theater held its inaugural film screening last Friday, prior to theater’s Grand Opening, which was May 19th with the opening title Mad Max: Fury Road, a dystopian action film. A large number of Romanian moviegoers came to see 4DX for the first time, which resulted in more than 90% of average seat occupancy rate on Sunday. The audiences said that the rumbling, shaking and heavy movement of the motion seats, combined with various multisensory effects were perfectly choreographed for a so-called ‘crazy immersion’ into the scenes onscreen.
4DX is now operating 170 auditoriums in 34 countries, and plans to continue successfully expanding its business globally by reaching a target 300 auditoriums by the first half of 2016. The company is scheduled to meet potential European exhibitors at Cine Europe 2015, which will be held in Barcelona from June 22 to 25, and 4DX will also make a presentation of ‘4DX, path to the future of cinema’ at the ICTA seminar session on June 21-22, prior to the trade show.
