TI Highlights Advancement of Digital Cinema Industry at ShoWest

Digital Cinema Pioneers Recognized; DLP Cinema® Technology Utilized throughout Motion Picture Tradeshow
Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and its customers this week will highlight the advancement of the digital cinema industry at ShoWest, the largest annual convention for the motion picture industry. DLP Cinema® technology from TI will be utilized throughout the tradeshow, with digital screenings of three upcoming studio summer release movies, multiple digital product reel presentations, and a special presentation looking at the past, present and future of digital cinema. In addition, this will be the fifth consecutive year that TI and its DLP Cinema Products division has served as corporate sponsor of ShoWest.

This year’s ShoWest marks a turning point in digital cinema advancement. TI announced this week that 1,195 DLP Cinema projectors from customers Barco, Christie and NEC are now deployed worldwide, and up to 33,000 additional digital cinema systems are scheduled to deploy in North American in the next few years. During its look into the past, present and future of digital cinema, ShoWest will recognize the following individuals with Digital Cinema Pioneer Awards for their extensive contributions to the advancement of the industry, all key contributors in propelling the industry to where it is today:

In the present portion of the presentation, exhibitors will hear from AccessIT and Technicolor, the companies behind the business plans currently enabling deployments, as well as from exhibitors who are making the switch to digital. During a look into the future, TI and its partners will explore the limitless possibilities for the future of digital cinema with 3D and alternative content.

“This should prove to be an exciting ShoWest with all of the advancements in digital cinema in recent months,” said Doug Darrow, Brand & Marketing Manager, DLP Products. “We plan to help educate exhibitors on how they can convert to digital systems through existent business models, as well as highlight the endless range of possibilities that digital cinema brings for movies, 3D and other digital content such as pre-show advertising, sporting events and concerts.”

Salute to the $100 Million Films of 2005: Tuesday, March 14, 9:45 a.m. – Join TI for a visual salute to the top grossing films of 2005, screened on a Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projector.
Digital Screening of Lions Gate Entertainment’s Akeelah and the Bee: Tuesday, March 14, 10:30 and 10:45 a.m., utilizing Christie CP2000 and NEC iS8-2K DLP Cinema projectors.
Digital Screenings of Walt Disney Pictures’ Cars, a Pixar Animation Studios Film: Tuesday, March 14, 6 and 6:30 p.m., utilizing Christie CP2000 and NEC iS8-2K DLP Cinema projectors.
Cars Reception: Tuesday, March 14, 8 p.m., hosted by Walt Disney Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, TI DLP Cinema and Christie/AccessIT. The DLP #96 NASCAR and driver Tony Raines to participate and sign autographs.
Digital Cinema Presentation: The Past, Present and Future: Thursday, March 16, 9 a.m., a look at where digital cinema has come from, the current state, and what we can expect to see in the future, projected with a Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projector.
Digital Screening of DreamWorks Animation’s Over the Hedge: Thursday, March 16, 11 a.m., projected with a Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema projector.
Digital Screenings of Warner Bros.’ Product Reel: Thursday, March 16, 2:30 p.m., utilizing Christie CP2000 and NEC iS8-2K DLP Cinema projectors.
DLP Cinema technology-enabled projectors can also be seen at the Barco and Christie booths, and NEC’s Palace Room 4/5 at ShoWest.
