The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. promotes interactive dialogue and information exchange between cinema-related entities with the goal of resolving issues affecting the overall cinema presentation. The EDCF is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation that aims to act as a "Forum" to discuss key issues surrounding Digital Cinema in Europe. The purpose of EDCF is to provide a basis of common understanding across all European territories of the business and technical matters of digital cinema.

Wanda Opens Its 10th Dolby Cinema at Beijing Fengtai

  • Dolby Cinema locations in operation at Wanda represents over 90% of current Dolby Cinemas in China
  • Wanda plans to open at least 100 Dolby Cinemas in China by end of 2018
Wanda Cinema Line Corporation and Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) today announced Wanda Cinema Line’s 10th Dolby Cinema location in China opened at Wanda Cinema Beijing Fengtai Wanda Square site. Wanda’s Legendary Pictures’ The Great Wall is the first movie shown at the site in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.Moviegoers in Beijing can now enjoy the total cinema experience of Dolby Cinema at Wanda Cinemas. 
 
Dolby Cinema is a premium cinema offering for moviegoers that combines spectacular image and sound technologies with inspired design to make every visit a completely captivating cinematic event.
 
Since the debut of Dolby Cinema in China with Wanda Cinema Line on June 23, 2016, 20 movies, international and domestic, from a variety of genres have been released in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for Dolby Cinema. These include titles from Wanda and Ledendary Pictures, a subsidiary of Wanda. The latest movie on the list, The Great Wall, which is now shown in Dolby Cinema locations across China, has achieved a record high Dolby Cinema opening show box office in the market.
 
Yimou Zhang, the director of The Great Wall, said, “I’m quite amazed by Dolby’s HDR technology. It is so amazing, recreating all the colors and details with guaranteed brightness. And the wonderful sound quality. Top class!”
 
“Through our collaboration with Dolby, the last six months have seen growing popularity and success of Dolby Cinema in China, and we are very excited now to reach the milestone of our 10th Dolby Cinema location with the opening of the highly anticipated Wanda Cinema’s Beijing Fengtai Wanda Square site,” said John Zeng, President, Wanda Cinema Line. “Opening Dolby Cinema in China represents our business philosophy which is to prioritize audience value and their moviegoing experience . We look forward to working with Dolby to extend this better moviegoing experience to consumers in more cities and provinces in China.”
 
To date, Dolby Cinema locations in operation at Wanda Cinema Line represents over 90% of Dolby Cinemas in the market. Wanda plans to open at least 100 Dolby cinema locations in China by the end of 2018. In addition, the Wanda company, AMC, plans to open 160 Dolby Cinema locations in the U.S. by the end of 2018. These have made Wanda the biggest partner of Dolby Cinema around the globe.
