The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. promotes interactive dialogue and information exchange between cinema-related entities with the goal of resolving issues affecting the overall cinema presentation. Founded in 1978 by Eastman Kodak VP Ken Mason, membership is composed of its four charter trade organizations - International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) - along with over 40 member companies, made up of trade organizations, motion picture studios, exhibition companies, manufacturers, technical consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
 




The International Cinema Technology Association is a global network of professionals in the motion picture industry. Disney’s Pete’s Dragon and Marvel’s Doctor Strange Among Seven New Disney Releases Announced for Dolby Cinema

Marks milestone of 50th Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos title announced for Dolby Cinema
Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) and The Walt Disney Studios today announced seven new titles to be shown at Dolby Cinema locations around the globe. 

Dolby Cinema, featuring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos®, is a premium cinema offering for exhibitors and moviegoers that combines spectacular image and sound technologies with inspired design to make every visit a completely captivating cinematic event.

The upcoming titles include Disney’s Pete’s Dragon, due out August 12, 2016; Marvel’s Doctor Strange, due out November 4, 2016; Disney’s Moana, due out November 23, 2016; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, due out March 17, 2017; Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, due out May 5, 2017; Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, due out May 26, 2017; and Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3, due out June 16, 2017.

“Disney is recognized globally for creating wonderful worlds full of fantasy and imagination, and fans have been amazed at how these worlds come to life with Dolby Cinema,” said Doug Darrow, Senior Vice President, Cinema Business Group, Dolby Laboratories. “With Disney’s continued support, the magic of Disney has never felt more real, and we can’t wait to see what this incredible new slate of titles look and sound like in Dolby Cinema.”

This announcement marks a major milestone, as Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3 is the 50th title announced to be color-graded in Dolby Vision and mixed in Dolby Atmos for Dolby Cinema in just over a year. Dolby Cinema launched with its first titles, Disney’s Tomorrowland and Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out in 2015.

“Dolby and Disney have had many industry firsts together, including bringing the advancement of Dolby Atmos sound to audiences with Disney•Pixar’s Brave and the spectacular image of Dolby Vision last year. These groundbreaking technologies take the theatrical moviegoing experience to the next level,” said Jeff Miller, President, Studio Operations, The Walt Disney Studios. “It’s very suiting that Disney was the first Dolby Atmos release, the first Dolby Vision release and now the 50th title to utilize both technologies.”

To date, The Walt Disney Studios has announced or released 17 titles for Dolby Cinema, including The Good Dinosaur,Star Wars: The Force AwakensZootopiaThe Jungle Book, Captain America: Civil War, Alice Through the Looking GlassFinding Dory and The BFG.

Dolby Cinema enables richer and more detailed storytelling through Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Vision projection system, which uses state-of-the-art optics and image processing, delivers high dynamic range with enhanced color technology and a contrast ratio that far exceeds that of any other image technology on the market today. The result is a dramatically different viewing experience that presents strikingly vivid and realistic images, making viewers feel like they are inside the movie’s world. Dolby Cinema also includes the award-winning Dolby® sound technology Dolby Atmos, which moves audio around the cinema, even overhead, with amazing richness and depth. Dolby Atmos debuted in 2012 in Disney•Pixar’s Academy Award® winning Brave.
